Maple Leafs 6, Canadiens 0: James Reimer stopped 37 shots for his seventh career shutout as Toronto defeated the Canadiens in Montreal for the second time this season.

Leo Komarov scored his first NHL goal, Phil Kessel netted his second in as many games and added two assists and Tyler Bozak, James van Riemsdyk, defenseman Korbinian Holzer and captain Dion Phaneuf also tallied for the Maple Leafs, who improved to 6-1-0 on the road.

Komarov opened the scoring 59 seconds into the game, chipping in a cross-slot feed from Nikolai Kulemin. Bozak made it 2-0 with a wrist shot from in close that beat Carey Price, who finished with 21 saves.

Van Riemsdyk extended the lead for Toronto early in the second, converting a nice pass from Kessel, who beat Price to the blocker side with a wrist shot from the top of the left faceoff circle during a power play late in the session to increase the lead to 4-0. Holzer and Phaneuf added goals in the third.

Reimer, who earned his first shutout since Feb. 4, 2012, made eight saves in the first period and 20 in a chippy second session. Tempers boiled over in the third as three fights erupted, the last a battle between Toronto's Frazer McLaren and Montreal's Josh Gorges with five minutes remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Toronto opened the season with a 2-1 victory at Montreal. … Canadiens D P.K. Subban was held without a point for the first time in five games this season. … Komarov, who played over six seasons as a pro in Europe before joining the Maple Leafs, had 10 points in 13 games with Dynamo Moscow during the lockout.
