Recap
Kings 4, Blue Jackets 2: Mike Richards had a goal and an assist while Jeff Carter scored during a power play against his former team to lift visiting Los Angeles.
Anze Kopitar and defenseman Slava Voynov also scored and Justin Williams collected three assists as the Kings rebounded from a 7-4 shellacking at Anaheim in the second of a five-game road trip.
Jonathan Quick, who was yanked after allowing two early goals against the Ducks, needed to make only 18 saves as Los Angeles took control with a three-goal second perod.
Derek MacKenzie and Derick Brassard scored for Columbus, which was outshot 17-2 in the second period in falling to 1-5 in its last six home games against the Kings.
Kopitar and Carter scored less than four minutes apart early in the second to erase a 1-0 deficit, and Voynov snapped a 2-2 tie with a rocket from the right point that beat Steve Mason (27 saves) midway through the session. Richards added an insurance tally - his first of the season - with 6:16 to play.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Blue Jackets C Brandon Dubinsky received a game misconduct for boarding Kings D Rob Scuderi in the second period. ... Los Angeles held Columbus without a shot for more than 18 minutes from early in the second period to early in the third. ... Carter, who was dealt to the Kings for D Jack Johnson at the trade deadline last season, tallied his team-high fourth goal.
