Recap

Maple Leafs 4, Sabres 3 (OT): Matt Frattin's second goal of the game at 4:58 of overtime lifted visiting Toronto past struggling Buffalo.

In overtime, Frattin skated in and wristed a shot past Sabres netminder Ryan Miller as the Maple Leafs halted a two-game losing skid. Jay McClement and defenseman Cody Franson had the other Toronto goals while captain Jason Pominville, blue-liner Andrej Sekera and rookie Mikhail Grigorenko replied in the Sabres' third straight loss.

Toronto opened the scoring 9:25 into the opening period. After Nikolai Kulemin's wrist shot from the slot rang off the left post, McClement gathered the rebound untouched and slid the puck past the paddle of Miller's stick.

Pominville drew the Sabres even on a power play just over five minutes later, and Sekera put the Sabres in front early in the second period with a high backhand that beat Maple Leafs goalie James Reimer on the glove side. Toronto tied it just over a minute later on a Frattin rebound conversion from in close, and Franson's first goal of the season at 6:21 restored the Toronto lead.

Grigorenko evened the score at 7:10 of the third period, recording his first career NHL goal on a slick backhand that slid between Reimer's pads.

GAME NOTEBOOK
: Maple Leafs D Mike Komisarek was scratched after taking a piece of fiberglass to the eye at the end of practice. Coach Randy Carlyle said the towering blue-liner was cleared to play but the club opted to sit him as a precaution. ... McClement's goal ended a 20-game scoreless drought. ... Grigorenko was told earlier in the day that he would remain with the Sabres rather than be sent back to his junior club.
