Blackhawks 2, Red Wings 1 (OT): Defenseman Nick Leddy scored at 2:45 of overtime as host Chicago set a franchise record with its sixth consecutive victory to start the season.

Leddy received a cross-slot pass from Viktor Stalberg and unleashed a shot from the left circle that got past Jimmy Howard. The goal gave the Blackhawks the franchise mark previously set by the 1971-72 club.

Blue-liner Duncan Keith also tallied and Corey Crawford made 29 saves for Chicago, which begins a six-game road trip on Wednesday in Minnesota.

Johan Franzen scored and Howard stopped 25 shots for the Red Wings, who have lost five of their last seven meetings with the Blackhawks.

Chicago cashed in on a power play just 2:24 into the game to take the lead as Keith blasted a shot from the left circle past Howard. The goal held up until 4 1/2 minutes into the third, when Franzen slid the puck under Crawford from the right circle.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Detroit D Jonathan Ericsson returned to the lineup from hip and shoulder injuries, but C Darren Helm was scratched again with a back injury. Helm made his season debut against Minnesota on Friday after missing the first three games with the ailment. ... Keith nearly won the game in regulation, but his slap shot late in the third period rang off the left post. ... The Red Wings went 0-for-6 on the power play and are just 2-for-26 with the man advantage this season.
