Kings 4, Coyotes 2: Anze Kopitar scored twice and defenseman Jake Muzzin recorded a goal and an assist as visiting Los Angeles posted its first win of the season.
Jeff Carter also tallied and Jonathan Quick made 32 saves for the Kings, who scored a total of four goals over their first three games. Los Angeles failed to cash in on four power-play opportunities and is 0-for-23 with the man advantage thus far this season.
Mikkel Boedker and captain Shane Doan scored for Phoenix, which began a three-game homestand with its fourth loss in five contests.
After a scoreless first period, Kopitar got Los Angeles on the board 64 seconds into the middle session with a shot from the slot. Boedker knotted the game during a power play less than three minutes later, but Kopitar converted a pass from Justin Williams while on the doorstep at 5:08 to put the Kings ahead for good.
Carter buried a rebound later in the period and Muzzin beat Jason LaBarbera with a wrist shot from the left point at 8:35 of the third for his first career goal.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Los Angeles LW Kyle Clifford notched an assist to extend his career-high point streak to four games. ... LaBarbera stopped 27 shots in his second straight start as Mike Smith remains sidelined with a lower-body injury. ... Coyotes C Martin Hanzal returned to the lineup after missing two games with a lower-body injury. Hanzal registered three shots in just over 21 1/2 minutes of ice time.
