Flyers 7, Panthers 1: Matt Read recorded his first career hat trick and Tye McGinn scored his first goal in just his third NHL game as visiting Philadelphia handed Florida its fourth straight loss.
Ruslan Fedotenko and defenseman Luke Schenn each had a goal and an assist, Wayne Simmonds also scored and McGinn added an assist for the Flyers, who totaled five goals over their first four games. Ilya Bryzgalov finished with 30 saves.
Peter Mueller netted the lone goal for the Panthers, who have been outscored 18-3 during their skid. Scott Clemmensen made 13 saves in relief of Jose Theodore, who allowed three goals on nine shots in the first period.
Read gave Philadelphia a 2-0 lead at 7:12 of the first period and scored his second goal of the night with 1:26 remaining in the second, converting a backhand pass through the slot by defenseman Braydon Coburn to make it 4-0.
Mueller scored on a breakaway 36 seconds later to get Florida on the board, but Schenn answered with a slap shot 37 seconds after that. Read completed his career-best goal-scoring effort 54 seconds into the third, beating Clemmensen with a one-timer from the high slot for a 6-1 advantage.

The 40-year-old, who officially was signed to a one-year contract on Friday, spent four seasons with Philadelphia from 2005-09. ... Philadelphia's Brayden Schenn returned to the lineup after serving his one-game suspension for charging and fellow center Daniel Briere made his season debut following a wrist injury.
