Maple Leafs 5, Penguins 2: James van Riemsdyk scored twice and added an assist as Toronto spoiled Pittsburgh's home opener.

Clarke MacArthur and Mikhail Grabovski each had a goal and an assist and Tyler Bozak also scored as the Maple Leafs snapped a three-game losing streak at Consol Energy Center.

James Reimer, who was making his first start of the season, turned aside 28 shots and Nikolai Kulemin collected three assists as Toronto erased a 1-0 deficit with three second-period goals.

Captain Sidney Crosby had a goal and an assist and reigning Hart Trophy winner Evgeni Malkin also scored for Pittsburgh, which had piled up nine goals in winning its first two games against Philadelphia and the New York Rangers.

Van Riemsdyk, who was acquired from Philadelphia in the offseason, batted in his own rebound for a 2-1 lead before Crosby answered 29 seconds later with his first goal. Van Riemsdyk put the Leafs ahead to stay at 14:34 of the second, intercepting a pass by Malkin and beating Marc-Andre Fleury (19 saves) to the glove side.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Maple Leafs LW Joffrey Lupul was knocked out of the game with a fractured forearm. Lupul was hit on the right arm by a slap shot by teammate Dion Phaneuf at the same time that Pittsburgh D Brooks Orpik hacked at him. ... Crosby scored in his fifth straight home game against Toronto to give him 18 tallies in 23 contests versus the Leafs. ... The first goal by van Riemsdyk was the 100th point of his career, while MacArthur's tally extended his points streak against Pittsburgh to seven games.
