Stars 2, Red Wings 1:
Michael Ryder scored both goals and Kari Lehtonen made 39 saves as Dallas spoiled Detroit’s home opener.

Cody Eakin recorded two assists while captain Brenden Morrow and Ray Whitney added one apiece for the Stars, who secured their first road win after being shut out at Minnesota on Sunday.

Rookie Damien Brunner scored on a wrist shot with four seconds remaining in the game to spoil Lehtonen's shutout opportunity. Jimmy Howard made 30 saves for the Red Wings.

Dallas moved Eakin up to center a line with Whitney and Ryder and it paid dividends early when Eakin found Ryder in the high slot 5:41 into the first period. Ryder blasted a slap shot past Howard for his first goal.
