FLYERS 7, MAPLE LEAFS 1: Rookie Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds scored twice and Danny Briere notched four assists as Philadelphia posted its 11th win in 14 contests and extended Toronto's franchise-record home losing skid to 11 games.
Jakub Voracek and rookie Matt Read collected a goal and an assist apiece and Jaromir Jagr recorded three assists for the Flyers, who moved to within two points of Pittsburgh for the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. The Penguins dropped a 5-3 decision to the New York Islanders on Thursday.
With Ilya Bryzgalov nursing a chipped fracture in his right foot, Sergei Bobrovsky wasn't tested much in his first start since March 11. He finished with 16 saves.
Jonas Gustavsson was helped off the ice after he was hit by a shot in the left knee during warmups. Jussi Rynnas, who was recalled on an emergency basis due to an upper body injury to James Reimer, made his first career NHL start and yielded seven goals on 30 shots.
After Schenn opened the scoring at 5:34, he doubled the advantage after tapping in a brilliant feed from Briere to complete a 2-on-1 rush.
Mikhail Grabovski trimmed the deficit back to one after converting a breakaway with 5:44 left in the first period, but Simmonds and Read scored just over eight minutes apart in the second to essentially seal the win.
Toronto fans, some of whom wore paper bags on their heads, began cheers of "Let's go Blue Jays!" in protest of the Leafs' struggles.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Eric Lindros accepted an invitation from Philadelphia general manager Paul Holmgren to join the team for the morning skate. Lindros wore an orange practice jersey while taking some shots on Thursday. ... Bobrovsky improved to 3-0-0 versus Toronto this season. ...
