Recap

RANGERS 4, JETS 2: Brian Boyle scored to snap a tie early in the third period and All-Star Henrik Lundqvist turned aside 22 shots for his 250th career win as visiting New York dealt reeling Winnipeg a critical blow to its dwindling postseason aspirations.

Captain Ryan Callahan and defenseman Michael Del Zotto collected a goal and an assist apiece and Derek Stepan netted a power-play tally for the Rangers, who won for the fifth time in six contests to pull into a tie with St. Louis in the race for the Presidents' Trophy. New York moved five points ahead of idle Pittsburgh in the Atlantic Division.

Rookie Spencer Machacek and Bryan Little scored 56 seconds apart in the second period for the Jets, who suffered their third straight loss and fifth in six games. Winnipeg sits eight points behind eighth-place Buffalo with five matches remaining on its schedule.

Boyle gave New York a 3-2 lead at 3:07 of the third period by using his 6-foot-7, 244-pound frame to create space near the goal. Boyle skated out front and wristed a shot past Ondrej Pavelec for his ninth tally - and third in four games.

Stepan provided insurance midway through the third after one-timing Brad Richards' deflected pass under the crossbar for his 17th goal.

After Winnipeg jumped out to a two-goal advantage, Del Zotto trimmed the deficit back at 7:44 of the second period after tapping a rebound off a sharp-angle shot by Callahan past Pavelec. Callahan leveled the contest with 1:37 remaining in the session with a second effort in front to extend his career high with his 28th goal.
