Recap

KINGS 1, BLUES 0 (SO): All-Star Jonathan Quick recorded his eighth shutout by stopping 35 shots and Jeff Carter scored the deciding goal in the fourth round of the shootout as Los Angeles pulled into a tie atop the Pacific Division with its season-best sixth straight win.

After Carter skated in and beat All-Star Brian Elliott between his pads, Quick denied Chris Stewart's backhander to give the Kings their sixth win in a row at the Staples Center. Los Angeles shares the division lead with Phoenix, which posted a 3-2 win over Colorado earlier on Thursday.

Quick stopped David Perron and rookie Jaden Schwartz prior to denying Stewart to end the game. His best save of the night came in the waning moments of the third period as he denied veteran Jamie Langenbrunner with a glove save while on his back.

Elliott stopped 37 shots for the Blues, who have dropped four of five since opening a seven-game road trip with a 2-1 win at Columbus on March 11. St. Louis' lead atop the West was cut to four points after Vancouver skated to a 2-1 victory over Dallas earlier on Thursday.

After being outshot by a 12-3 margin in the first period, Los Angeles wasn't shy about testing Elliott thereafter. The Kings peppered him with 17 shots in the second and 15 in the third.
