BLACKHAWKS 4, STARS 1: Patrick Sharp recorded a pair of goals as Chicago scored twice in the first two minutes of both the first and third periods en route to a road victory over Dallas.
Dave Bolland and Marian Hossa also tallied, Viktor Stalberg added two assists and Corey Crawford made 21 saves as the Blackhawks improved to 6-1-1 in their last eight games. Chicago, which won for just the seventh time in 29 visits to Dallas, climbed within four points of idle Nashville for fifth place in the Western Conference.
Kari Lehtonen's bid for a third consecutive shutout ended just 10 seconds into the contest as Bolland beat the goaltender with a wrist shot from the top of the slot for his 18th goal.
Sharp doubled the lead 1:32 later as he put a wrister past Lehtonen from the left faceoff circle for his first of the night.
After a scoreless second period, Chicago struck early twice again in the third for a 4-0 advantage.
Hossa unleashed a blast from above the right circle that deflected off Stars defenseman Adam Pardy's stick and past Lehtonen 33 seconds into the session for his 28th tally. Sharp matched Hossa's goal total 1:12 later, beating Lehtonen from the slot to complete his fifth multi-goal performance of the season.
All-Star Jamie Benn got Dallas on the board with just under six minutes remaining, preventing Crawford from posting his first shutout of the campaign.
Lehtonen stopped 27 shots for the Stars, who have lost two straight following a 10-0-1 run. Dallas remained two points ahead of idle Phoenix for first in the Pacific Division.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Bolland's goal ended his 11-game drought. It was just his second tally in 20 contests. ... Hossa has recorded at least one point in eight of his last nine matches and 13 of 16. Sharp has gotten on the scoresheet in six of his last seven games. ... Dallas kicked off its four-game homestand with its first regulation loss in six contests at the American Airlines Center (4-1-1). ...
