Recap

CANADIENS 4, CANUCKS 1: Erik Cole scored twice and defenseman Andrei Markov notched an assist in his first game in nearly 16 months as Montreal posted a rare victory in Vancouver.

Blake Geoffrion and defenseman P.K. Subban also tallied, Max Pacioretty added two assists and All-Star Carey Price made 32 saves for the Canadiens, who won for just the second time in 10 visits to Vancouver.

The Canucks took a 1-0 lead with eight minutes remaining in the second period as Ryan Kesler beat Price from the inner edge of the right faceoff circle for his 21st goal.

It was all Montreal thereafter as Geoffrion began a run of four straight tallies late in the period with his first in six games with the Canadiens. Louis Leblanc got the puck along the right-wing boards and made a cross-slot pass to Geoffrion, who tapped it past Roberto Luongo from the doorstep.

Cole put Montreal ahead for good 13 seconds into the third when he beat Luongo with a backhander from the bottom of the right circle after his initial shot was blocked. Subban buried a one-timer from the top of the left circle during a 5-on-3 advantage just over five minutes later for a 3-1 lead.

Subban was set up by Markov, who made his first appearance since suffering a torn ACL against Carolina on Nov. 13, 2010.

Cole completed his first two-goal performance of the season by beating Luongo from the right circle during a 2-on-1 rush with just under nine minutes left.

Luongo stopped 31 shots for the Canucks, who fell to 2-3-0 on their seven-game homestand.
