BLUES 4, BLUE JACKETS 1: Chris Stewart scored to snap a tie in the second period and Andy McDonald added a pair of assists to lift host St. Louis to its fourth straight win and remain atop the NHL standings.

All-Star Brian Elliott made 21 saves to snap a personal three-game losing streak and pick up his 21st win.

St. Louis excelled on special teams to take the first game of a home-and-home series with Columbus. The Blues went 2-for-6 with the man advantage and held the Blue Jackets off the scoresheet on all four of their power play attempts. St. Louis has killed off 39 straight power plays over the last 13 games.

With the game tied at 1-1, Stewart broke in on the left wing and lifted a backhand over Curtis Sanford for his 15th goal.
