SABRES 4, SENATORS 3 (SO): Tyler Ennis scored in regulation and had the winning tally in the shootout as visiting Buffalo came from behind three times to topple Ottawa.
Marcus Foligno, the brother of Ottawa's Nick Foligno, scored his first career goal with 5:54 to play in regulation to force overtime for the Sabres, who pulled within two points of Washington for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Captain Jason Pominville also scored in the shootout and Nathan Gerbe added a goal to help Buffalo improve to 8-1-2 in its last 11 and beat the Senators for the first time in four meetings.
Ryan Miller turned aside 33 shots to improve to 14-16-3 lifetime against Ottawa.
All-Star defenseman Erik Karlsson scored a pair of goals for the Senators, which squandered a chance to pull within a point of Boston atop the Northeast Division.
Rookie goaltender Ben Bishop absorbed his first loss for the Senators despite making 38 saves. Erik Condra also scored for Ottawa while shorthanded.
