Recap
BLUES 3, FLAMES 1: Jason Arnott scored twice and Jaroslav Halak continued his red-hot play with 20 saves as St. Louis cruised past host Calgary to move into a tie for the Central Division lead.
Halak allowed two or fewer goals for the fifth consecutive game, improving to 5-2-0 in February. It was just his third win in seven career meetings against the Flames.
The victory moved St. Louis into a tie with the idle Detroit Red Wings atop the Central while improving the club to 3-0-0 on its six-game road trip.
The Flames have dropped four in a row.
Calgary's Curtis Glencross opened the scoring just past the five-minute mark, gathering a Cory Sarich feed and wristing a shot past Halak. It was the first goal for Glencross in three games since returning from a knee injury that cost him more than a month.
David Backes answered just over nine minutes later, firing a shot that beat Calgary goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff between the pads. The Blues kept the pressure on and were rewarded on a power play with 39.6 seconds left in the period, as Arnott's shot went through a maze of legs and eluded Kiprusoff.
Arnott extended the St. Louis advantage on another man advantage at 6:21 of the second period, banging home a rebound of an Andy McDonald shot to cap his first multi-goal game since Jan. 12.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Arnott's first-period tally was the Blues' first man-advantage goal away from St. Louis since Dec. 27. ... The Flames managed just three shots in the second period. ... Calgary F Jarome Iginla was held scoreless and has just one assist and a minus-six rating over his past five games.
