Recap

BLUES 3, JETS 2 (SO): David Perron scored once in regulation and added the winner in the fourth round of a shootout as St. Louis overcame a shot barrage from host Winnipeg to win its second straight.

After Winnipeg's Blake Wheeler and St. Louis' Andy McDonald traded goals in the opening round, Andrew Ladd nearly put the Jets in front in round four. The veteran forward's initial shot was stopped by Jaroslav Halak, but the St. Louis netminder had to deftly redirect the puck off the goal line with his pad as it trickled toward the net.

Perron ended things on the next shot with a backhander that beat Jets netminder Chris Mason up high.

Winnipeg outshot St. Louis 7-1 in the opening seven minutes of play but it was the Blues who opened the scoring at 7:49. TJ Oshie's wraparound attempt was denied but David Backes converted the rebound for just his second goal in 14 games.

Perron doubled the lead in the latter stages of the frame, tipping home a Patrik Berglund feed past Mason.

Wheeler went to work in a productive second period. The Jets' leading scorer trimmed the deficit at 7:19 and tied things just under eight minutes later, pouncing on a rebound of a Ladd tip shot and burying it past Halak.

The two-goal effort extended Wheeler's points streak to six games, during which he has registered three goals and 10 assists.

The teams played a tight-checking third period with few quality scoring chances.
