Recap

COYOTES 4, FLAMES 3 (SO): Ray Whitney scored the lone shootout goal after notching a tally and an assist in regulation as Phoenix extended its winning streak against Calgary to six games.

Daymond Langkow and captain Shane Doan also scored in regulation for the Coyotes, who have won four in a row and earned at least one point in 10 straight contests (9-0-1).

Former Coyote Olli Jokinen, whose power-play goal with 1:46 remaining in the third period forged a 3-3 tie, put a shot between Mike Smith's pads on Calgary's first shootout attempt, but the puck slid just wide of the left post.

Whitney followed by beating Miikka Kiprusoff to the stick side, and Smith denied both Alex Tanguay and All-Star Jarome Iginla to seal the win.

Calgary built a 2-0 lead in the first period, but Phoenix battled back to forge a tie in the second.

Former Flame Langkow received a pass from Whitney and beat Kiprusoff from the high slot 92 seconds into the session. Doan knotted the contest with 2:52 remaining as he tipped defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson's one-timer from the right point past Kiprusoff for his 19th goal of the season.

The Coyotes took advantage of a miscue midway through the third to take their first lead of the contest. Flames defenseman Scott Hannan tripped near his own blue line and lost possession to Whitney, who skated in alone and deked Kiprusoff to the ice before sliding the puck around the goaltender's outstretched left pad.

Calgary pulled even late in the third when Jokinen grabbed a loose puck near the left post lifted it past Smith for his 19th tally.
