Recap
SENATORS 6, PANTHERS 2: All-Stars Daniel Alfredsson and Milan Michalek joined rookie Kaspars Daugavins by collecting a goal and an assist apiece and Craig Anderson turned aside a season-high 42 shots as Ottawa maintained its mastery of Florida in the Sunshine State.
Fellow All-Star Jason Spezza notched three assists and Bobby Butler, defenseman Filip Kuba and rookie Jim O'Brien also tallied for the Senators, who have won five straight and 17 of 20 in Florida.
Ottawa pulled into a tie for sixth place with New Jersey in the Eastern Conference, although the Devils have played four fewer games.
With the contest tied at 1-1, Daugavins redirected defenseman Brian Lee's point shot past Scott Clemmensen and Butler scored just 2:06 later after he tipped Michalek's feed past the netminder.
Alfredsson capped the three-goal second period by converting a breakaway. The veteran Swede reached the 20-goal plateau for the 13th time in his career.
Anderson, who played with Florida in parts of three campaigns, did the rest from there to improve to 7-0-1 in his career versus the Panthers.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Playing in his 13th career game, O'Brien notched his first NHL goal after beating Clemmensen to the post with a wraparound. ... Clemmensen yielded four goals on 16 shots before being relieved by Jose Theodore. ... Ottawa has defeated Florida in all three games thus far this season.
