NY Islanders 3, Winnipeg 1

P.A. Parenteau snapped a tie 96 seconds into the third period and the New York Islanders went on to post a 3-1 victory over the host Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday.

Matt Moulson and Matt Martin also scored, Parenteau added an assist and Evgeni Nabokov made 37 saves for New York, which has won four straight on the road for the first time since January 2008.

From along the right-wing boards, defenseman Milan Jurcina dished the puck to Parenteau, who redirected it past Ondrej Pavelec from the slot for his 12th goal of the season and first in seven games. Parenteau then set up Martin for an empty-net tally in the final minute.

Chris Thorburn gave Winnipeg a 1-0 lead late in the first period with his third tally of the campaign. Nabokov stopped Jim Slater's shot from the bottom of the right faceoff circle, but Thorburn backhanded the rebound past the goaltender from the slot with 2:10 remaining.

All three of Thorburn's tallies have come in his last eight games.

Moulson forged a tie during a power play less than four minutes into the second when he beat Pavelec with a one-timer from the top of the slot. Moulson is the first Islander to reach the 25-goal mark in three straight seasons since Ziggy Palffy accomplished the feat from 1995-96 to 1997-98.

Pavelec stopped 22 shots for Winnipeg, which has lost four of six. The Jets franchise fell in regulation to the Islanders for only the second time in nine meetings (5-2-2).
