David Clarkson scored a power-play goal in the first period and Martin Brodeur made 30 saves as the New Jersey Devils extended their winning streak to five games with a 1-0 road victory over the Eastern Conference-leading New York Rangers on Tuesday.

Captain Zach Parise and Patrik Elias each notched an assist for the Devils, who have won four straight on the road.

With Rangers defenseman Stu Bickel in the penalty box for holding, Parise made a pass from behind the net to Clarkson, who fired the puck into the top right corner from the slot for his 21st goal of the season and fifth in as many games.

Brodeur turned aside nine shots in the first period, six in the second and 15 in the third en route to his first shutout of the campaign. The four-time Vezina Trophy winner, who has won four in a row, is the NHL's all-time leader with 117 shutouts.

New York appeared to tie the contest with 3.5 seconds remaining in the third, but Artem Anisimov's goal was waved off as Marian Gaborik was penalized for running into Brodeur. The call was questionable as it appeared Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov pushed Gaborik into the netminder.

Henrik Lundqvist was brilliant for the Rangers in a losing effort, stopping 21 shots - many of them difficult.

New York, which limited New Jersey to one shot in the third period, lost in regulation for the first time in six games (4-1-1).
