Captain Joe Thornton, All-Star Logan Couture and Joe Pavelski each recorded a goal and an assist as the San Jose Sharks cruised to a 5-2 home triumph over the Dallas Stars on Thursday.

Ryane Clowe scored in his return from a fractured nose, Michal Handzus also tallied and defenseman Brent Burns notched three assists for San Jose, which has won five of six at home.

Thomas Greiss made 19 saves for the Sharks in place of Antti Niemi, who missed the contest with a lower-body injury.

Pavelski beat Richard Bachman with a one-timer from the right point during a power play with 3 1/2 minutes left in the first period for a 2-0 lead.

Couture scored with the man advantage with five minutes to go in the second and Thornton netted his third goal in two games less than two minutes later to make it 4-1.

Steve Ott registered a power-play goal and an assist while All-Star Jamie Benn also scored for Dallas, which has lost five straight meetings with San Jose. The Stars have dropped four of six on the road and six of eight overall.
