Los Angeles 3, Columbus 2

Defenseman Drew Doughty scored a power-play goal with four-tenths of a second remaining in the third period to give the Los Angeles Kings a 3-2 home triumph over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday.

Justin Williams and Dustin Penner also tallied while Doughty added an assist for Los Angeles, which completed a 2-1-1 homestand.

After Curtis Sanford made a pair of saves on Anze Kopitar, Doughty received a pass from fellow defenseman Jack Johnson and buried a shot from the slot just before time expired.

Williams opened the scoring at 8:40 of the first period as his shot from the left faceoff circle rang off the crossbar and right post before entering the net. The goal extended Williams' points streak to nine games.

Derek Dorsett tied it 69 seconds into the second session, but Penner stole the puck from R.J. Umberger at the Columbus blue line and beat Sanford from the right circle with 5 1/2 minutes left to give the Kings a 2-1 lead.

Colton Gillies knotted the game at 2-2 five minutes into the third, converting a pass by Antoine Vermette for his first goal since Apr. 10 while with Minnesota.

Sanford made 30 saves for the Blue Jackets, who fell to 0-4-1 on their six-game road trip. Columbus has lost seven straight road games and six in a row overall.
