Paul Gaustad scored the game-winning goal just over six minutes into the third period and the visiting Buffalo Sabres continued their dominance of the Montreal Canadiens with a 3-1 victory on Tuesday.

Ryan Miller turned aside 27 shots as Buffalo extended its winning streak over the Canadiens to six games, including five straight in Montreal.

Ville Leino scored his first goal since Dec. 7 and Patrick Kaleta added an empty-net tally to help the Sabres win back-to-back games for the first time since Nov. 11.

Canadiens goaltender Carey Price was superb with 38 saves, but fell to 0-3-3 in his last six games against the Sabres.

Gaustad, who also had an assist, tapped a puck past Price after taking a pass from Brad Boyes at 6:17 of the final period.

Montreal's Max Pacioretty opened the scoring at 4:04 of the first period, breaking in alone on Miller, who stopped the initial shot. Pacioretty corralled the rebound and slid it under Miller's pad at 4:09.

Leino tied it at 4:01 of the second period, pulling the puck around defenseman Raphael Diaz before whipping a shot past Carey Price glove side.

Thomas Vanek, Buffalo's leading goal scorer, left the game after the first period with an upper-body injury.
