Bobby Ryan scored twice and captain Ryan Getzlaf broke a tie in the third period with his first goal in 13 games as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the visiting New York Islanders 4-2 on Friday.

Getzlaf ended the longest drought of his career when he beat Evgeni Nabokov with a backhander over his blocker into the top corner with 7:25 to go.

Teemu Selanne added his 649th career goal with 2:54 left as the Ducks (11-22-6) snapped a three-game losing streak and won for only the second time in their last nine games.

Matt Martin and Kyle Okposo scored for the Islanders (14-18-6), who were trying for their first four-game winning streak since Feb. 10-15, 2011.

Ryan has five goals in his last five games and gave Anaheim a 1-0 lead at 14:18 of the second period when he banged home a rebound of Jason Blake's shot. The assist was Blake's first point in his second game back after missing 34 because of a torn tendon in his left wrist.

The Islanders tied it 1:46 later when Martin's wrap-around shot slid along the goal line and was knocked in by Hiller as he tried to smother it with his glove.

After Okposo gave the Islanders a 2-1 lead at 6:20 of the third period, Ryan tied it 3:02 later with Anaheim's first shorthanded goal of the season.

Corey Perry gained control of the puck in the neutral zone and fed Ryan at the Islanders blue line. Ryan went around defenseman Andrew McDonald and deked Nabokov before sliding the puck into the open side of the net. The assist was Perry's 400th career point.

The Islanders outshot the Ducks 8-3 in a scoreless first period. New York's Brian Ralston recorded two shots, and had two others hit the post.
