Recap
Marc-Andre Bergeron and Vincent Lecavalier recorded third-period goals as the Tampa Bay Lightning came from behind to defeat the visiting Montreal Canadiens 4-3 on Thursday.
Bergeron tied it 2:32 into the third on a screen shot and Lecavalier flipped in a rebound at 8:37 for the Lightning, who have gained at least a point in five of six games.
Montreal lost for the sixth time in seven games and dropped its first regulation game of the season when leading after two periods.
J.T. Wyman, who scored his first NHL goal late in the second period to cut Montreal’s lead to 3-2, assisted on Lecavalier’s goal. Steve Downie added two assists for Tampa Bay.
Mathieu Garon, playing his 300th career game, made 31 saves for the Lightning. Tampa Bay killed off a Montreal power play in the final 1:32 to seal it.
Steven Stamkos registered his league-leading 23rd goal on a nifty deflection in the first period. Mike Cammalleri countered with his first power-play goal of the season for Montreal in the first, whipping a shot past Garon from the bottom of the right circle.
Montreal defenseman Raphael Diaz had two assists, giving him five in the last two games. David Desharnais had a goal and an assist for the Canadiens.
