Recap
Ryane Clowe scored in the fourth round of the shootout as the San Jose Sharks extended their home winning streak to five games with a 2-1 triumph over the Los Angeles Kings on Friday.
Clowe added an assist on Logan Couture's goal in regulation and Antti Niemi made 28 saves for San Jose, which improved to 4-0-0 on its six-game homestand.
Neither team was able to break through in the shootout until Clowe put a wrist shot into the top left corner of the net. Niemi then denied Mike Richards on Los Angeles' final opportunity to clinch the win.
After a scoreless first period, San Jose struck less than eight minutes into the second for a 1-0 lead. Clowe made a pass from the left corner to Couture, who beat Jonathan Quick with a one-timer from the high slot for his 15th goal of the season.
The Kings forged a tie late in the session as Richards snapped the puck past Niemi from the right faceoff circle during a power play. Richards has two goals in as many games since returning from a head injury.
Quick stopped 34 shots for Los Angeles, which has lost five of seven on the road and fell to 1-1-0 under new coach Darryl Sutter.
