Bobby Butler scored the game-winner at the 2:02 mark of overtime to lift the Ottawa Senators to a 4-3 victory over the visiting Florida Panthers on Thursday.

Kyle Turris sent a pass to Butler on the left boards to start the sequence. Butler fired a hard pass into the slot intended for Erik Karlsson, but the puck glanced off Panthers defenseman Brian Campbellā€™s skate and deflected past Scott Clemmensen to give the Senators the win.

Daniel Alfredsson recorded a goal and two assists and Chris Neil and Karlsson each added a goal and an assist for Ottawa.

Florida forced overtime when Tomas Kopecky struck with 1:12 left in regulation, scoring on a drag play from the doorstep after the Panthers brought on an extra attacker.

Alfredsson had given the Senators a 2-1 lead with his 10th goal on the power play, only to have the Panthers strike back on their own power play 1:27 later, with Shawn Matthias wristing a shot past Craig Anderson from the right faceoff circle.

Karlsson tallied on a snap shot from the point 38 seconds later.

Senators left wing Nick Foligno was ejected for charging in the second period. Foligno launched himself shoulder-first into Keaton Ellerby, earning a game misconduct.
