P.A. Parenteau opened the scoring in regulation and netted the decisive tally in the shootout as the New York Islanders continued their strong play on the road with a 3-2 triumph over the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday.

Michael Grabner also scored and Evgeni Nabokov stopped all 19 shots he faced in relief of Al Montoya for New York, which improved to 5-1-1 in its last seven road games.

Parenteau converted the Islanders' first chance in the shootout, beating Ondrej Pavelec high to the glove side. After Nabokov denied Kyle Wellwood's stuff attempt, Frans Nielsen buried a backhander to seal the win.

New York has won consecutive games via the shootout for just the second time in franchise history.

Parenteau gave New York a 1-0 lead less than 8 1/2 minutes into the first period, but Nik Antropov deflected defenseman Johnny Oduya's shot from the left point past Montoya with two minutes remaining to forge a tie.

The Islanders moved back ahead early in the second as Grabner tapped in a loose puck near the left post for his 10th goal of the season. Winnipeg again knotted the contest midway through the session when captain Andrew Ladd beat Montoya with a wrist shot from above the left faceoff circle.

Montoya, who made 17 saves, left the game with 80 seconds to play in the second after being steamrolled by Evander Kane.

Pavelec stopped 31 shots for the Jets, who had won nine of 11 at home.
