Recap
Mark Letestu, captain Rick Nash and defenseman James Wisniewski scored shootout goals as the Columbus Blue Jackets halted a nine-game losing streak against the Vancouver Canucks with a 2-1 home triumph on Tuesday.
Jeff Carter converted a power-play chance in regulation and Steve Mason overcame a right leg injury in the third period to finish with 30 saves for Columbus, which ended a three-game skid at home.
Letestu put a wrist shot over Roberto Luongo's glove in the first round of the shootout and Nash netted the decisive goal on the Blue Jackets' second chance, beating Luongo to the stick side after deking to his backhand. Nash is 4 for 6 in the bonus format this season.
Wisniewski clinched the victory in the third round on his first opportunity of 2011-12.
Columbus, which is 1-1-1 on its five-game homestand, grabbed a 1-0 lead midway through the first period when Carter backhanded a rebound past Luongo from the doorstep to extend his goal-scoring streak to three games.
Maxim Lapierre forged a tie eight minutes into the third after Chris Higgins forced a turnover by Nash behind Columbus' net and made a set-up pass.
Luongo stopped 29 shots for the Canucks, who had won four straight overall, five in a row on the road and five consecutive visits to Columbus. Vancouver is 2-1-0 on its five-game road trip.
