Evgeni Malkin scored to snap a tie early in his team's four-goal third period as the Pittsburgh Penguins won their fifth straight at Consol Energy Center, securing a 6-3 triumph over the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday.
James Neal collected a goal and two assists, Jordan Staal scored for the third time in two games and Marc-Andre Fleury turned aside 24 shots to improve to 7-0-1 in his last eight contests for Pittsburgh.
Defenseman Brooks Orpik was credited with tying the game at 3-3 just 71 seconds into the third period after his blast caromed off the skate of Colorado's Jay McClement and past a screened Semyon Varlamov.
Malkin gave Pittsburgh its first lead just over 3 1/2 minutes later with a brilliant individual effort. After Avalanche defenseman Kyle Quincey turned the puck over behind his net, Malkin skated out front and tucked the puck between the skates of second overall pick Gabriel Landeskog before deking Varlamov to the ice and depositing the puck in the net.
Neal provided insurance just over 2 1/2 minutes later after converting Steve Sullivan's feed on the doorstep and defenseman Kris Letang capped the barrage by backhanding the puck past Varlamov.
McClement collected a goal and an assist and Matt Duchene scored a highlight-reel goal for his fifth tally in seven contests for Colorado, which fell to 2-7-1 in its last 10 games.
Varlamov finished with 27 saves to remain winless in November (0-5-1).
