Marian Gaborik scored the clincher in the shootout and the New York Rangers defeated the visiting Anaheim Ducks 2-1 on Thursday, despite not getting a shot on goal in the final 9:38 of the third period.

Henrik Lundqvist made 27 saves – including 15 in the third period – to snap a three-game losing streak (0-2-1) and defenseman Jeff Woywitka scored in the first period as the Rangers (5-3-3) won their second straight.
Former Duck Erik Christensen also scored in the shootout.
Bobby Ryan scored in the second period and Jonas Hiller made 24 saves as the Ducks (5-5-3) lost their fourth straight game (0-2-2) and fell to 1-2-3 on their seven-game road trip. Teemu Selanne scored in the shootout.
Hiller’s most important stop came midway through the third, when he denied Ryan Callahan on a shorthanded breakaway.
Woywitka’s first goal as a Ranger came when he took a pass from Gaborik just inside the left point and blasted a slap shot between Hiller’s pads.
The Rangers outshot the Ducks 10-2 in the first period.
Ryan took a pass from Corey Perry and beat Lundqvist high to the blocker side from near the top of the left face-off circle. Ryan Getzlaf had an assist for his first point in four games.
New York left wing Wojtek Wolski left in the first period with a groin injury and did not return.

Anaheim defeated New York 2-1 in a shootout earlier this season in Sweden.
