Captain Andrew Ladd and Kyle Wellwood scored in the shootout and Ondrej Pavelec stopped both attempts as the Winnipeg Jets skated to a 4-3 road triumph over the Florida Panthers on Monday.
Evander Kane scored twice - with the latter goal tying the contest with 50 seconds remaining in the third period. Kane batted the puck in mid-air past Jose Theodore, prompting officials to review the play.
Wellwood netted his team-leading fifth goal in regulation for Winnipeg, which improved to 2-1-0 on its seven-game road trip. The franchise, which was formerly known as the Atlanta Thrashers, won four of six against Florida last season.
In the shootout, Ladd beat Theodore and Wellwood ended the contest by making a deke before tucking the puck past the netminder. Pavelec, who turned aside 39 shots in overtime and regulation, denied Kris Versteeg and Mike Santorelli in the shootout.
Marco Sturm become the first German-born player to compete in his 900th NHL game and countryman Marcel Goc played in his 400th.
Tomas Fleischmann tallied twice in the third period and Jason Garrison netted his NHL-leading fifth goal for a defenseman for Florida, which fell to 3-0-2 in its last five games.
