Milan Michalek scored the tying goal in regulation and added the winner in the shootout as the Ottawa Senators won their fifth game in a row, rallying from a three-goal deficit to upend the host New York Rangers 5-4 Saturday afternoon.

Michalek struck in the first round of the sudden-death format, lifting a backhand into the top corner past the glove hand of Rangers netminder Henrik Lundqvist. New York was blanked on its first two attempts before Wojtek Wolski's shot in the final round hit the post and stayed out.

With New York enjoying a 2-1 advantage through 40 minutes - the first time it has carried a lead into the third period this season - Marian Gaborik gave the Rangers a two-goal cushion 4:53 into the third, driving a one-timer along the ice past Ottawa netminder Craig Anderson from point-blank range. Brad Richards added his second of the game on a centering pass from Gaborik just over three minutes later, slapping a shot just under the crossbar.

Jason Spezza closed the gap on a redirection from in in close at 9:18, then made it a one-goal game 3 1/2 minutes later on a shot from the top or the right circle that eluded Lundqvist inside the left post.

Michalek completed the stunning comeback, slapping home a loose puck that trickled past Lundqvist with 2:50 left in regulation.

Trailing 1-0 after 20 minutes, the Rangers were given a major boost when Senators forward Zenon Konopka was hit with a boarding major and game misconduct for hammering Rangers forward Artem Anisimov into the glass with his back turned.

New York took full advantage, tying the game at 6:24 on a Ryan Callahan wrist shot from in close that beat Anderson on the glove side. The Rangers struck again 80 seconds later, as Richards skated to the bottom of the left circle and wristed shot between Anderson's legs.
