Recap
Ty Conklin made 29 saves while Pavel Datsyuk notched a goal and an assist to lead the Detroit Red Wings to a 3-0 triumph over the host Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.
Johan Franzen and Henrik Zetterberg also scored for Detroit, which has won 13 of its last 17 visits to Colorado.
Following a pregame ceremony in which Colorado retired Peter Forsberg's No. 21, the teams played scoreless hockey until Franzen one-timed a feed from Jiri Hudler past Semyon Varlamov with 2:19 remaining in the second period.
Zetterberg made it 2-0 by converting Datsyuk's pass from the right faceoff circle with eight minutes left in the third. Datsyuk sealed the win with an empty-netter.
Conklin stopped 11 shots in the first session and nine in each of the final two periods for his 17th career shutout and first in 10 career starts against the Avalanche.
Varlamov made 36 saves for Colorado, which went 1-5 during the preseason.
