Evgeni Malkin scored a hat trick and added an assist and Marc-Andre Fleury made 31 saves in his second start in as many nights to lead the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 4-2 win on the road against the Atlanta Thrashers.
Captain Sidney Crosby also scored and added an assist to notch his fifth straight multi-point game, while Fleury improved to 3-6-0 on the season.
Crosby scored his 12th of the season just 2:41 into the third period when he deflected Deryk Engelland's shot from the point to give Pittsburgh a 2-1 lead. Malkin assisted on that goal and then added his second of the night on the power play just over two minutes later.
Niclas Bergfors cut the lead to 3-2 at 10:45 of the third period, but Malkin added another into an empty net to finish off the hat trick.
Brent Sopel got Atlanta on the board with his first of the season at 2:41 of the first period, but Malkin evened the score at 1-1 when he ripped a shot past Ondrej Pavelec at 13:22 of the second period.
Pavelec finished with 24 stops for Atlanta.
