49ers 27, Lions 19: Alex Smith completed 20 of 31 passes for 226 yards and a pair of touchdown passes to Vernon Davis as host San Francisco shut down Detroit.

Frank Gore added 105 yards from scrimmage and a rushing touchdown and Michael Crabtree made three key first down catches on the final touchdown drive for the 49ers (2-0), who have won seven straight regular season home games.

Smith took control on the final scoring drive, marching San Francisco 79 yards on 13 plays while eating up 6:12 off the clock. He converted three different third-and-long passes to Crabtree before hitting Davis with a short pass and letting the tight end rumble for a 23-yard score and a 27-12 lead.

Smith and Davis hooked up for a 21-yard score on their opening drive and the 49ers never trailed. Gore’s 1-yard scoring burst on the first play of the second quarter made it a 17-6 edge, and David Akers and Jason Hanson traded field goals through the third and fourth until Davis’ second score.

The San Francisco defense held Matthew Stafford to 67 passing yards in the first half and kept him out of the end zone until 1:35 was left in the game. Calvin Johnson made eight catches for 94 yards but was under consistent pressure from the 49ers.
