Recap
Chargers 38, Titans 10: Philip Rivers threw three touchdown passes to tight end Dante Rosario - his first catches of the season - and host San Diego kept its perfect record against Tennessee intact by shutting down Chris Johnson and the Titans.
On a day when the Chargers retired Junior Seau's No. 55 in an emotional pregame ceremony and the thermometer on the field reached some 110 degrees, Rivers was 24 of 32 passing for 284 yards as San Diego (2-0) improved to 8-0 against Tennessee since the franchise moved from Houston in 1997.
Johnson was held to 17 yards on eight carries and quarterback Jake Locker struggled to a 15-of-30 performance for 174 yards and a touchdown for the Titans (0-2), who have just 58 rushing yards this season - including 21 by Johnson. The Titans were held to 38 on Sunday.
With eight-time Pro Bowl tight end Antonio Gates a late scratch because of injured ribs, Rosario capped the Chargers' 12-play, 71-yard drive to start the game with an 11-yard touchdown. His second catch - a 4-yarder - came on San Diego's second possession and followed Eric Weddle's interception at the Tennessee 31 to make it 14-0.
Rosario, who had five career touchdowns entering the game, completed his hat trick when Rivers found him wide open on a seam pattern for a 15-yard score to make it 24-3 in the third quarter. Jackie Battle added a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs in the fourth quarter as the Chargers won the time of possession battle 43:39-16:21.
GAME NOTEBOOK: San Diego has defeated the Tennessee franchise nine straight times - its last loss was 27-0 against the Oilers in Houston in 1992. ... Rivers, who is 38-11 at home as a starter, completed six passes for 109 yards to Malcom Floyd. ... Seau, who played 13 seasons with San Diego, is the third player to have his number retired by the Chargers, joining Dan Fouts' 14 and Lance Alworth's 19. Seau committed suicide May 2.
