San Francisco’s Justin Smith stripped the ball from Philadelphia receiver Jeremy Maclin, and Dashon Goldson recovered the fumble with just over two minutes to play as the visiting 49ers shocked the Eagles 24-23 on Sunday.

Philadelphia led 23-3 in the third quarter, but the Niners (3-1) got touchdown passes by Alex Smith of 30 yards to Josh Morgan and 9 yards to Vernon Davis to narrow the gap to 23-17 in the fourth quarter.

Frank Gore, listed as questionable with an ankle injury, capped the comeback with a 12-yard scoring run with three minutes left in the game. He finished with 127 yards rushing.

Battered and bruised once again, Eagles quarterback Michael Vick threw touchdown passes to Clay Harbor and LeSean McCoy. Vick also ran for a team-high 75 yards.

Both teams struggled in the kicking game. Philadelphia kicker Alex Henery had three field goals on the day but missed a pair in the second half as the Eagles (1-3) tried to extend their lead.

Niners kicker David Akers also missed a field goal and had another one blocked against his former team.
