Kerry Collins threw two touchdowns and Chris Johnson ran for another as the Tennessee Titans ended a six-game losing streak with a 31-17 victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday.

Collins threw touchdown passes to Nate Washington and Justin Gage as the Titans (6-8) jumped out to a 21-0 first-quarter lead. The 17-year veteran quarterback helped Tennessee avoid its longest losing streak since 1994, when the franchise was still in Houston.

He hooked up with Washington for a 3-yard score with 10:20 left and connected Gage for a 1-yard touchdown less than four minutes later. Johnson’s 11-yard touchdown extended the margin as Tennessee built a 24-3 lead at halftime.

The only intrigue in this otherwise forgettable matchup was the potential for another altercation between Texans receiver Andre Johnson and Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan.

Johnson erupted in Week 12 and ripped off Finnegan’s helmet before landing three punches to his head. Both players were fined but not suspended.

All was quiet this time, however. Johnson finished with six catches for 58 yards and a touchdown. Kevin Walter had the other touchdown catch for Houston (5-9), which has lost three straight and seven of eight.
