BenJarvus Green-Ellis rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns and Tom Brady threw for 240 yards and a score as the New England Patriots topped the visiting Minnesota Vikings 28-18 on Sunday

Danny Woodhead added 58 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown for the Patriots (6-1), who now own the best record in football.

Brett Favre started for Minnesota (2-5) despite ankle and heel injuries but was knocked out in the fourth quarter.

The Vikings grabbed the early lead in the second quarter when Adrian Peterson burst through the left side for a 1-yard touchdown. New England tied it on the ensuing possession as Brady threw for 69 yards before handing to Woodhead for a 3-yard score.

Minnesota regained the lead on a field goal in the third quarter but the Patriots jumped back on top right away when Brady found Brandon Tate for a 65-yard touchdown.

Devin McCourty intercepted Favre later in the third and New England cashed in that turnover for seven more points on Green-Ellis’ 13-yard run to push the lead to 21-10.

Favre drove the Vikings down the field in the fourth but was knocked out of the game on a hit to the chin. Tarvaris Jackson came on and completed a touchdown pass and a two-point conversion to bring Minnesota within 21-18.
