Western Michigan running back Jamauri Bogan rushed for 189 yards and scored two touchdowns, leading the visiting Broncos past Illinois 34-10 on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

Jarvion Franklin and quarterback Zach Terrell also rushed for touchdowns for Western Michigan, which is off to a 3-0 start - including wins over a pair of Big Ten teams in Northwestern and Illinois. It's the first time the Broncos have defeated two Big Ten teams in one season.

Bogan had 36- and 1-yard touchdown runs in the first quarter, and Terrell tacked on a short-touchdown run to open the second and put Western Michigan up 21-0.

Illinois responded with a 56-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Wes Lunt to Ainslie Johnson, but trailed 24-7 at halftime. The teams exchanged field goals in the third quarter, and Western Michigan took a 27-10 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Broncos held Illinois to three rushing yards.

Lunt went 29 of 42 for 312 yards, one touchdown and an interception for the Fighting Illini (1-2), who have lost two straight under new coach Lovie Smith.

Terrell completed 9 of 13 passes for 150 yards.

Illinois is off next week, before opening Big Ten play at Nebraska. Western Michigan hosts Georgia Southern next week.
