Louisiana-Lafayette 48, Texas State 24: Terrance Broadway set a school record with his sixth career 300-yard passing game and matched a career high with four touchdown passes as the host Ragin' Cajuns gave the Bobcats a rude welcome into the Sun Belt Conference.

Jamal Robinson recorded two touchdowns and 114 yards on four receptions for Louisiana-Lafayette (3-2, 1-0), which won its third straight game after losses at Arkansas and Kansas State. James Butler and Darryl Surgent also caught TD passes as the Ragin' Cajuns improved to 12-1 at home under coach Mark Hudspeth.

Broadway finished 18-of-23 for 335 yards, including 16-of-18 for 288 in the first half as Louisiana led 28-3 at the break. Wide receiver Brandon Smith returned two kickoffs for touchdowns to become the first player in school history to record two in a season for Texas State (3-2, 0-1), which was outgained 572-196.

The Bobcats entered the game third in the nation in rushing yards allowed at 62 per game, but the Ragin' Cajuns surpassed that number in the first half and finished with 212. Louisiana's Alonzo Harris, who recorded a game-high 78 yards on the ground, opened the scoring with a 4-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

Broadway's third touchdown pass of the first half and second to Robinson was a 4-yarder with 40 seconds left. Texas State's Andy Erickson fumbled the second-half kickoff and two plays later, Broadway set his record when he found Butler for a 20-yard score and the Ragin' Cajuns' defense held the Bobcats to 44 yards from there.
