Cal grabbed its first lead following a spectacular one-handed grab by Maurice Harris for a score - his first catch of the game.

Momentum swayed in favor of the Golden Bears when Kameron Jackson intercepted McDonagh in the end zone which was followed by a Vincenzo D'Amato field goal to put Cal up 27-20 with 1:49 remaining in the first half. Portland State struggled with mental mistakes, racking up nine penalties for 84 yards and two turnovers.
