Recap: Utah 70, Weber State 7

Utah 70, Weber State 7: Travis Wilson passed for three touchdowns and rushed for two others in one half of play as the host Utes steamrolled an overmatched FCS opponent.

Lucky Radley rushed for 111 yards and two scores and Sean Fitzgerald had two touchdown receptions as Utah (2-0) improved to 36-0 against current members of the Big Sky Conference. Meanwhile, Weber State (1-1) fell to 3-49 all-time against FBS programs.

Wilson passed for 264 yards and rushed for 93 in a first half that ended with the Utes possessing a 49-0 lead. Utah finished with 628 offensive yards and also scored a touchdown on special teams when Weber State’s Bo Bolen fumbled a kickoff and Mike Honeycutt returned it 21 yards for a score.

Wilson scored on a 38-yard run and tossed an 80-yard touchdown pass to Fitzgerald in the opening quarter and the Utes blew the game open with 35 second-quarter points. Wilson threw a 57-yard scoring pass to Dres Anderson and a 1-yarder to Fitzgerald in the stanza and also scampered 51 yards for a touchdown.

Kelvin York had a 24-yard scoring run in the second quarter and Radley tacked on two third-quarter touchdowns. Weber State’s touchdown came on a 3-yard run by Josh Booker midway through the third quarter.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Anderson had four receptions for 103 yards, giving Utah two 100-yard receiving outings in two games after not having a single one in 2012. … Weber State RB Oran Maxwell served a one-game suspension for coming off the bench to punch a Stephen F. Austin player in the season opener. … The Utes rushed for 338 yards on 38 attempts while limiting the Wildcats to 69 on 43 rushes.
