Recap: Baylor 52, Kansas State 24

Baylor 52, No. 2 Kansas State 24: Lache Seastrunk rushed for a career-high 185 yards on 19 carries and the host Bears amassed 580 total yards in the stunning upset of the No. 1 team in the BCS standings.

Glasco Martin contributed to the 342-yard rushing game by Baylor (5-5, 2-5 Big 12), carrying the ball 19 times for 113 yards and scoring three touchdowns. Nick Florence completed 20-of-32 passes for 238 yards and two scores.

Kansas State (10-1, 7-1) entered the game sporting an offense that scored on 53 percent of their possessions, but had their national championship dreams shattered by the nation’s No. 2-ranked offense. Wildcats quarterback Collin Klein completed 27-of-50 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns, but the Heisman Trophy candidate was intercepted three times, doubling his season total.

The Wildcats never led, falling behind by seven points in the opening two minutes and trailing 28-7 with just under three minutes left in the first half. Kansas State scored 10 points in the final two minutes of the opening half, but Martin scored on a 4-yard run two minutes into the second half to push the lead back to 18.

Klein scored on a 1-yard run less than a minute later but the Bears, who had lost five of their previous six games, responded with 17 straight points to go ahead 52-24 entering the fourth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Kansas State is the highest-ranked opponent Baylor has defeated in program history. … The Wildcats came in leading the nation in fewest penalties (3.2) but committed seven for 60 yards. … Baylor wide receiver Terrance Williams entered the game averaging a nation-leading 159 receiving yards. He had five catches for 87 yards and a touchdown.
