Recap: Nebraska 32, Penn State 23

No. 16 Nebraska 32, Penn State 23: Taylor Martinez passed for 171 yards and rushed for 104 as the host Cornhuskers rallied from a 14-point halftime deficit to win their fourth consecutive game.

Nebraska (8-2, 5-1 Big Ten) trailed 20-6 at halftime before tying the game on a pair of Imani Cross touchdown runs early in the third quarter. Nebraska remains tied with Michigan atop the Legends Division but leads by virtue of its 23-9 victory over the Wolverines on Oct. 27.

Penn State (6-4, 4-2) used Zach Zwinak’s 50-yard touchdown run on the opening possession, two Sam Ficken field goals and Matthew McGloin’s 10-yard touchdown pass to Jesse James to build its halftime lead. The Nittany Lions lost a potential touchdown on a controversial play as Matt Lehman was ruled to fumble just before going into the end zone.

Ficken’s 35-yard field goal with 6:01 left in the third moved Penn State ahead 23-20. But the Nittany Lions did not score again, and Martinez’s 5-yard touchdown pass to Jamal Turner with 10:57 remaining gave the Cornhuskers the advantage.

McGloin passed for 240 yards for Penn State, which has lost two of its past three. Ameer Abdullah led Nebraska with 116 yards rushing.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Zwinak rushed for 141 yards for Penn State. … The Cornhuskers, who were sixth in the nation in rushing (269.6 yards) entering the game, finished with 267 yards on the ground. … The Nittany Lions trail Ohio State by two games in the Leaders Division, but neither is eligible for postseason play.
