Aaron Murray passed for a career-high 427 yards and four touchdowns as the visiting Bulldogs held off the upset-minded Wildcats in Southeastern Conference play.

Murray, who had a career-low 109 yards passing against South Carolina two weeks ago in Georgia’s last game, completed 30 of 38 throws against Kentucky (1-7, 0-5 SEC). He also became the school’s all-time leader in touchdown passes with 75, passing David Greene (72 from 2001-2004).

Tavarres King caught nine passes for 188 yards, including scoring strikes of 66 and 1 yard in the first half, for the Bulldogs (6-1, 4-1). Murray put Georgia ahead 22-17 on a 22-yard scoring strike to Chris Conley with 5:01 left in the third quarter and hit tight end Arthur Lynch for a 10-yard touchdown with 7:51 remaining in the contest for a 12-point lead.

Quarterback Morgan Newton came off the bench to throw for one score and run for another in the first half for Kentucky, which lost its sixth straight. The Wildcats rushed for 137 yards in the first two quarters with Georgia’s consensus All-American linebacker Jarvis Jones held out because of a sprained ankle and took a 14-7 lead.

Georgia freshman kicker Marshall Morgan missed an extra point, but banked in a 27-yard field off the left post as time ran out in the first half to give the Bulldogs a 16-14 lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Murray went over 8,000 yards passing in his career and moved past Matt Stafford for third on the school’s all-time list with 577 career completions. … Kentucky rushed for 206 yards, almost 100 more than its average. … King, a senior, moved into sixth on the Bulldogs’ all-time list with 2,163 yards.
