Recap: TCU 24, SMU 16

No. 14 TCU 24, SMU 16: Matthew Tucker scored two touchdowns and the Horned Frogs took advantage of early turnovers to defeat the host Mustangs and extend the nation's longest winning streak to 12 games.

Tucker ran for 56 yards on 18 carries while Casey Pachall completed 10 of 26 passes for 107 yards and two touchdowns.

Texas Christian's first two touchdowns were set up by turnovers in Southern Methodist territory, the second coming on the Mustangs' 8-yard line. Tucker caught a 2-yard TD pass from Pachall in the first quarter and scored on a 4-yard run with 2:11 left in the second period to give TCU (4-0) a 21-7 lead.

After each team exchanged field goals, the Mustangs (1-3) pulled within 24-16 on Garrett Gilbert's late 29-yard TD pass to Der'rikk Thompson.

SMU quarterback Garrett Gilbert threw five interceptions and connected on only 15 of 40 passes for 190 yards against TCU's defense, which entered the contest allowing an FBS-low 4.3 points per game.

GAME NOTEBOOK: SMU was the last team to beat TCU, snapping the Horned Frogs' 22-game home winning streak with a 40-33 overtime victory last season. ... Pachall entered the weekend leading the FBS in passing efficiency with a 209.9 rating and had completed 76 percent of his passes while throwing only one interception. ... TCU increased its lead in the series to 45-40-7 and has won 19 of its last 21 road games.
