Ralph Bolden and Antavian Edison each ran for a touchdown and visiting Purdue racked up 508 yards in a 33-25 victory over in-state rival Indiana on Saturday.

Carson Wiggs kicked four field goals for the Boilermakers (6-6, 4-4 Big Ten), who are bowl eligible for the first time since 2007. Purdue’s first road win this season helped it regain the Old Oaken Bucket from the Hoosiers, who were seeking to win two straight in the series for the first time in 17 years.

Instead, Indiana (1-11, 0-8) ended another dismal season with a ninth straight loss. The Hoosiers went winless in conference play for the first time since 1995. Indiana didn’t go down without a fight, however.

D’Angelo Roberts’ 5-yard touchdown run and the ensuing two-point conversion cut the Boilermakers’ lead to 33-25 with 8:41 remaining. But Josh Johnson’s interception of freshman Tre Roberson with less than five minutes to play ended the Hoosiers’ comeback.

Indiana got off to a fast start, but Purdue outscored the Hoosiers 16-3 in the second quarter and led 23-17 at the half.

Wiggs’ fourth field goal – the first points of the second half – put Purdue up 26-17 with just under 14 minutes left. And the Boilermakers extended the lead to 33-17 on Edison’s 5-yard touchdown run less than three minutes later.
